LET'S TALK ABOUT HARVEST MEADOWS and THINGS TO DO!

When deciding where to live, it is important to consider the location in relation to amenities and activities that are important to you.

Harvest Meadows is conveniently located near tons of dining and shopping, plus many fun and recreational venues, while being nestled in the shadow of the mountains, making it appealing to many people.

Everyone knows about the numerous Penn State athletic events to attend. But what else is there to do in this area? Let's talk about some of the other places to go and things to do in the winter months, just minutes from our new home community.

Just 15 minutes from downtown State College, you will arrive at Tussey Mountain. This family-fun ski resort offers 50 acres of slopes, plus a snow tube park.

Go underground to explore America's only all-water cavern and wildlife park. Tour Penn's Cave from the comfort of a boat, then stop in the Cave Café for a bite to eat (have you ever had a bison burger?), followed by a visit to the gift shop where you will find an array of unique gifts, clothing, books and souvenirs. The Palmer Art Museum presents the largest museum collection between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. This 50-year old museum features American, African, Asian and European art, plus studio glass and ceramics. Bonus! This museum is admission-free. With four State Forests, there are more than 750,000 acres to explore, via hiking, biking or snowshoeing. Like to fish? Yep, there are even opportunities to ice fish on these public lands. If you are looking for something fun and educational for the kiddos, check out Discovery Space. The kids can explore more than 45 interactive exhibits, opening their minds through creativity and curiosity.

I love to eat, and the State College area doesn't disappoint with a wide variety of places that range from down home and family friendly, to fun and entertaining. First on my list is a personal favorite, Otto's Pub & Brewery on Atherton St. The menu provides a wide selection of tasty fare from salads to burgers to wings and pizza. Breweries are popular destinations of late where you can enjoy a galore of flavors you can't get anywhere else. Axemann Brewery in Bellefonte is the largest taproom in the State College area. Here you will find a mix of monthly events like Open Mic Night, Trivia Night and Country Line Dancing. Then we have The Waffle Shop where breakfast is served from open to close, plus traditional American Fare such as burgers, sandwiches and salads. The area also offers a variety of ethnic cuisine such as Korean, Thai, Japanese, Vietnamese, Venezuelan and Mexican.

Just touching the tip of the iceberg, it's easy to see why we chose Happy Valley for Harvest Meadows. This picturesque location currently offers our thoughtfully designed Lilac townhome, starting from 1,766 sq. ft. with 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. We have eventual plans to build single-family homes as well. More information about this up and coming community can be found via my October 18, 2022 blog.
