LET'S TALK ABOUT WHAT IS A FLEX ROOM AND HOW YOU CAN USE IT!

One of the fabulous and functional upgrades you will find in a Berks home is a "Flex" (flexible) Room. Great, right? But what is a Flex Room? That's a great question and I have the answer.

A Flex Room is an area of your house that can be utilized for a variety of purposes-the world is your oyster here! This is "extra", useable space that I would define as versatile and functional. But what does that mean? Below are a few possibilities on ways it can be used:

  • Home Office. With the switch to largely remote working over the past couple of years, this is a popular use of a a Flex Room. To add additional privacy, you can install French doors, keeping the space separate and quiet from the rest of the home.
  • Playroom. In my experience, a dedicated space for the kiddos was a huge help in maintaining some semblance of order in the rest of the home. I'd recommend adding a door that you can close and leave the "mess" behind.
  • Fitness Room. Do you love to workout but can't find the time or motivation to leave the house and drive to the gym? Then this space would be perfect for you to toss on your gym clothes and workout without leaving the comfort of your own home. This can be especially great in the winter!
  • Hobby / Craft Room. Much like loving a dedicated space to keep order in the house and having a playroom, I can say the same for a Hobby / Craft Room. Maybe you're a knitter or a painter or love making jewelry or your own fishing lures. Having a dedicated space to house your supplies, will help them from getting lost in the shuffle of the rest of the home, plus you have space that you can get away from it all to enjoy your hobby.
  • Entertainment / Game Room. If you love to entertain, this room could be the perfect setup. Whether it's an addition of a bar, pool table, or a large widescreen tv for viewing movies and gaming, a Flex room lends the space for family fun.

The best part? A Flex Room doesn't have to stay the same. As your interests and family change and grow, you can easily recreate the space to fit your lifestyle. The space does not need to remain as it was originally imagined. In addition, a Flex Room adds additional value to your home in the amount between $10,000 and $30,000.
