Christmas … In July

Did you know that more people than ever are starting to build their homes this month? That just from May to June, the number of new homes starting to build rose 17%?! That means you probably know someone (or lots of someones) who is moving and you probably are wondering what to give them for a housewarming present.

Enter: Christmas in July.

Let’s skip the candle and stick to the good stuff.

Remember when you were a kid and your mom wrapped socks and put them in your Christmas stocking as if they were a fun gift? Practical didn’t feel exciting back then.

But now? As adults? Practical is exactly what your friend/sister/son/mom wants.

New homeowners who are sick of spending their money on sensible things like microwaves and hammers. Buy the vase for them, but maybe put a Home Depot gift card in it instead of flowers. Free up their wallets so they can buy the fun stuff for themselves.

Here’s a list of our favorite presents for the home:

These IKEA curtains.

We love these curtains because they are so versatile. They can blend with most designs and decor styles, they are heavy-duty and still inexpensive.

This drill.

For the DIY handyperson on your list. Great for both big projects and small ones alike, it's an essential for any new homeowner's garage.

This rug.

Somehow both hip and classic, fancy and casual. We don't know how it does it, but it's got a little something for everyone (read: any room).

This flashlight.

When practical does become exciting. Check out this review – “I needed a flashlight on the farm. Sometimes, I need to go out in the fields at night to check cows and I like to see what I'm getting into. I bought these based on the excellent reviews. When I opened it I was disappointed because they are small and only take 3 AAA batteries. I didn't think they would do the job but they do!!! I can see over a 1000 ft with these and scan all the fields. I spotted a possum over 1000 ft. I would recommend these”

 This step stool.

Before you scroll past this one, think about how many times you reach for a stool. Super practical, super thoughtful.
