Freshening Up Your Home for Spring

Everyone has a story, but we are more interested in yours. Part of everyone’s story right now is figuring out our lives through a pandemic. We are all feeling the stress of staying home and trying to navigate our lives through this unique situation. Your home is your safe haven but right now cabin fever is an understatement for some people. Time for some fresh perspective! Clean, redecorate, organize, and turn your home into an oasis that you deserve during this time. Change your story and adapt for the better.

Cleaning

There are a lot of chemicals floating around in the average home these days. Even though disinfectant is necessary for cleaning knobs and disinfecting your groceries, you can still swap out chemicals around other parts of your home. Use Thieves All-Purpose Cleaner for countertops and your bathroom to still have a fresh home without having the stink of chemicals throughout your house.

If you want to go a step further in using natural cleaning remedies, you can make your own cleaner with lemon, vinegar, and castile soap. Another good alternative for cleaning solutions is using essential oils. Tea tree oil has great disinfectant properties and it smells good too! This all-purpose essential oil can be added to your DIY cleaning solutions for an extra boost.

Organizing

When you are spending all of your time inside, you become more aware of how disorganized your home is. Don’t worry, you aren’t the only one. We’re taking spring cleaning to a whole new level. Take everything out of your cabinets and closets (yes everything). It’s going to be a little chaotic at first, but then once you are done organizing, you’ll feel so much better.

Up next, your cabinets. Throw out anything expired. Then move onto your Tupperware cabinet. Sort out what has matching lids and if you can’t find the match, it’s time to recycle it. Let’s face it, you’ll never find that missing lid. Buy this organizer from Amazon to help give you quick access to your Tupperware without feeling like you are in an infomercial

Now it’s time to organize your closets. Believe it or not, spring is already here. It’s time to put your winter wardrobe into retirement. Get some Space Bags, fill them up with your sweaters, shrink them down with your vacuum and now you have more space! These bags are a great way to seasonalize your closet. No more pushing back your bulky items to get to your summer clothes.

Relax

Once your home is all organized and clean, now is the time to focus on making your home cozy and relaxing. We all know this is a stressful time. Try to relax by diffusing essential oils in each room. Use lavender to help calm down and fall asleep. If you want to feel a little more energized for your zoom meetings and homeschooling, diffuse grapefruit and orange essential oil to awaken your senses. For a little more relaxation without adding chemicals to your routine, get dryer balls, and put essential oils on them before you dry your clothes. Not only is it environmentally friendly, but you are also taking another step in making your home chemical-free.

At Berks Homes, we want each and every one of you to stay relaxed during this time of uncertainty. It doesn’t take much to turn your home into your own oasis during this time. Tag us on Facebook and show us how you have turned your home into your happy place. Even though all of our stories are changing right now, it is still your story.
