LET'S TALK ABOUT FIREPLACES!

When I bought my first home, a fireplace was not on my mind as a luxury I needed to have. By chance, my first home did, in fact, have a wood burning fireplace, that we quickly converted to propane. A fireplace was on my "must-have" list for each home after this. I love the character, warmth and coziness it brings to a room. I also love that I can change the mantle décor to fit seasons, holidays, or even just my mood, easily changing the look and vibe of the room.

A fireplace can be more than just for warmth in the cool months. Let's talk about some of the other benefits of having a fireplace in your home.

Lower Your Energy Bill

Turn the thermostat down and the lights off. Instead, use your fireplace for added heat and light.

Increase Your Home's Resale Value

Based on previous studies, homebuyers are willing to pay more for homes with fireplaces in them. A fireplace can potentially increase the resale value of your home as much as 6-12%.

Design Element

A fireplace can be the focal point of your room, providing a crucial design element. The options are endless!

When adding a fireplace here are the things you will get to choose from:

  • Type - You have the flexibility to choose a 32" or 36". A slate surround is included, while an upgrade is available in stone, granite, or marble. A floor-to-ceiling stone option is also available for the 36" fireplace.
  • Mantle - This is the top portion of the fireplace surround and is likely found to be flat on top. Finish options include paint or a stain.
  • Surround - This sets the tone of the feeling you are going for. The surround is the object that sticks out from the outer wall of a fireplace into the room and surrounds the fireplace opening. It is usually made up of sides and a mantel. Options include Granite, Slate or Stone.
  • Blower Fan Kit - The blower is an electric device that goes into the fire box, making the fireplace more efficient.
